Snowdon Push

June 21st-22nd/23rd

Approx 8 miles up and down Snowdon

Hi Everyone,

If anyone is interested in doing an event on Snowdon in June… 😊

It’s called ‘The Snowdon Push’ and it’s run by a charity called ‘Backup’. www.backuptrust.org.uk

In the charity’s words “we inspire people affected by spinal cord injury to get the most out of life”. They provide LOADS of support/services/skills training to help get spinal injured people back to participating in life again, whether it’s helping them get back to school, learn everyday living skills, camp, cycle, or climb mountains. There’s LOTS more!! Click on the link and read. 😊

Here’s the gist: You can be put in a team, or, make your own team of about 10 and help a wheelchair person in an adapted wheelchair, up and down Snowdon. You need to raise a minimum of £200 each, and camping for 2 nights (21st – 22nd) is £65.

There is lots of info on the website, I don’t want to bombard you! I’m looking forward to doing it and thought I’d ask if anyone is interested. I can answer any questions, or find out the answers anyway!

😊

Hi Rochelle, this looks like a brilliant thing to do! I have an event ( The Exmoor Perambulation) that weekend so unable to participate but here hoping you get some support!!

Thanks Steve! The Exmoor event looks great! 👍

But if that falls through for some reason...😊

It would be amazing if we could get a full team of 10 BTRs! As previously discussed I have it on the calendar so consider me there!!

  • Sent via email anyone interested?... Hi, I am a member of a community sports club, South London Orienteers who organise three great races on Surrey Hills, near Dorking on 9th June (Pre-entry £8.00). The races are 6 miles (10K), 10 miles (16K) and 18 miles (29K). We think these might appeal to those who enjoy running and trail running. Run under FRA rules. Mostly varied trails and tracks, timing check points. Competitors get a map of each race with the check points marked, there is free parking, indoor changing and showers, water stations, timing chips given out, and finally each person who completes the race will get a unique birch-wood medal etched with a picture of Leith Hill Tower, it is a lovely memento. All the information is on the South London Orienteering website and we have also made a video of the Ten Mile race to help people with route choice; the video is on South London Orienteers Youtube Channel https://youtu.be/CYm2oksti2M There is a chance (just!) for anyone who is interested to 'learn' the route with us on Saturday 11th May, but they do need to contact me if interested. I wonder if you would mind send this information around your members as they might want to try something new. We welcome groups and people who want to run together. Thanks Sarah Brown http://slow.org.uk/events/surrey-hills-race-2019/
  • A request was made to pass this on... Message: Hi I just wanted to let you and your Runners know about the Binfield 10k race taking place on 19th May. There are still places left and 100% of the profits go to charity. This year we are supporting Youthline. I would be really grateful if you could spread the word! Thanks Selina www.binfield10k.co.uk
